Clark Avenue Overpass and Ramps Open in Jefferson City
The Clark Avenue bridge over U.S. Route 50/63 and the Route 50/63 on- and off-ramps at Clark Avenue in Jefferson City will be open for Thanksgiving holiday travelers. The bridge and the on- and off-ramps were opened to traffic today at 1 p.m.

The bridge had been closed since Sept. 19 and the ramps had been closed since Sept. 27 for bridge resurfacing and other repairs, including additional repairs that were discovered on Oct. 20. Work on the bridge still remains, but the bridge and the ramps will not be closed again for the rest of the project. However, drivers will continue to experience periodic daily lane closures during off-peak times while the remaining work is completed.

Federal regulations required a noise analysis to be conducted on this project because of the addition of auxiliary lanes. Any place (residence, park, etc.) impacted by highway traffic noise was considered for a sound wall.

After analyzing the project area, three places were found to be eligible for a sound wall per state and federal policies. Two of the three areas were approved by a vote of the owners and renter residents. (MORE)
