Hurricane Deck Online Public Meeting

Missouri Route 5, Hurricane Deck Bridge

Online Public Meeting, Feb. 28 -- March 15, 2011

What is an Environmental Assessment?

MoDOT follows a specific process when considering a major construction project like the replacement of the Hurricane Deck Bridge.

Every road or bridge starts with an idea.  Ideas are generated and prioritized by public comment and partnerships with planning partners.  For major construction projects, we often assess the impact of such a project through a study called an environmental assessment. The assessment takes into account every impact the new road or bridge would have on the human and natural environment.

Once the impacts have been determined, MoDOT design engineers work to create the most practical solution.

For the Hurricane Deck Bridge, we anticipate presenting the design/location information at a traditional, in-person public hearing in summer 2011.
