The 2009 National Alliance of Highway Beautification Agencies (NAHBA) conference was held at the Chateau on the Lake in Branson, Missouri, August 9 - 12, 2009.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Right of Way Division received the "Innovations in Outdoor Advertising Award," for the county billing classification system. This process allows staff to effectively and efficiently control outdoor advertising by concentrating on a particular county. The Outdoor Advertising Permit Specialists are thus able to focus their efforts in a general area, documenting permitted sign structures; locating, researching, and processing illegal signs; and investigating salvage yards.
MoDOT Right of Way Outdoor Advertising Manager, Joyce Musick, received the Chairman's Award in Outdoor Advertising. Joyce has been involved with the Outdoor Advertising Control program through her MoDOT career, which began in 1986. During this time, Joyce has been instrumental in the advancement of the Federal outdoor advertising control program through her involvement with various national and local organizations.
