Volume III, Issue I - April 2011

It's Personal

MoDOT has launched a new communications effort designed to inform Missourians about the decline in funding for transportation and how it effects us all personally.  Transportation is more than roads and bridges and projects.  It's your connection to safety, work, business, family and better government.

MoDOT Outdoor Advertising is "Going Green"

In an effort to reduce costs and "go green," MoDOT improved the correspondence process.  ODA now has the option to send correspondence electronically via email.  However, if a customer has 5 or more of one type of document generated at one time, these multiple documents will still be printed and mailed.  Contact your area specialist with any questions regarding the new process.

Don't Barrel Through Work Zones

The spring and summer of 2011 will bring road and bridge construction back to Missouri highways.  With highway construction, motorists are reminded to drive safely in work zones.  Work zone awareness week is April 4 - 8.  To keep everyone safe, MoDOT is managing and improving work zones in many ways.  We've enhanced work zone warning signs to make them more visible to motorists and we are using the latest technology to monitor traffic in work zones to decrease delays.  Please visit MoDOT Work Zones and be sure to Drive Smart in Work Zones to Arrive Alive.

One Team: Integrating Practical Solutions

The 2011 AASHTO Right of Way, Utilities & Design Subcommittee Meeting will be held May 9 - 13, 2011, in St. Louis, MO.  There are two breakout sessions for Outdoor Advertising scheduled for Thursday, May 12, 2011.  Topics include International Scan Report, FHWA Digital Study and an Open Forum.

MoDOT Holding Spring Property Sale

MoDOT's Realty to Roads program is holding its third sale event, an all-out attempt to sell multiple properties across the state in a short period of time.  Approximately thirty-nine parcels ranging in size from one-tenth of an acre to 199 acres will be available for purchase between March 28 to April 1, 2011 by either auction or sealed bid.  MoDOT and the Office of Administration have joined forces to sell excess property.  MoDOT's website offers a link to other state owned property being marked for sale by OA.  The OA website, in turn links to MoDOT's Realty to Roads program page.
