ST. LOUIS - Traffic continued to flow well during the month of July on the alternate routes during the east half closure of Interstate 64.  MoDOT, St. Louis City and St. Louis County engineers continue to monitor the region's interstates and major alternate roads.  Signal timings are continually monitored with minor adjustments made as needed.

            Here are the major observations from the month of July 2009:

•  The most congested hour for morning rush continues to be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for evening rush.
• Volumes continue to be heavy on I-64 between Route K and I-270 in both morning and evening rush.
• Volumes are also growing on the section of I-64 from I-270 to I-170, but are still not back to pre-construction levels.
