ST. LOUIS - Traffic on the interstates continued to flow well for morning rush on the first day of the Big Bend closure for work on the Interstate 64 reconstruction project. Speeds on the interstates were good, traveling greater than 45 mph.
"We are very pleased that motorists continue to take efforts to spread out the traffic demands on the regions roads," said MoDOT Interstate 64 Project Director Lesley Hoffarth. "Overall, traffic appears to be lighter and schools being out of session may have contributed to the lower traffic volumes."
Motorists are encouraged to use Brentwood and McCausland. MoDOT, St. Louis County and Gateway Constructors are monitoring the signals on Brentwood, Manchester and McCausland trying to optimize the signals at these locations. McCausland flowed better today than on normal days.
