I-64 Regional Traffic Briefing – Jan. 16
Dual left to be Added from Manchester to Kingshighway

ST. LOUIS - MoDOT and City of St. Louis engineers have been monitoring the intersection of Manchester and Kingshighway.  The left turn traffic on eastbound Manchester to go north on Kingshighway has increased significantly since the closure of the east half of the I-64 project.  In response, MoDOT crews will make changes to the signals and the striping late next week to add a second left turn lane.  Message boards will be installed to alert motorists of the new dual left turn.  The new eastbound lanes will be as follows:  left turn only lane, a shared left turn or straight lane and a shared straight or right turn lane.  Motorists should be alert for these changes by the end of next week.

This morning's traffic was affected by a few crashes on I-44 near Hampton.  Several lanes were closed and traffic increased on other streets especially Manchester Road as motorists used alternates to

I-44.  All lanes were cleared around 9 a.m.

Water main breaks with the cold temperatures are causing traffic delays at spots around the region.  This morning's new water main breaks included one at Memorial and Washington Avenue at the Missouri end of the Eads Bridge and one on Lindbergh at Sappington in South County.  Water crews are working to repair these, but motorists should expect lane closures and possible delays at any of the break locations.

Route 109 south of Old Manchester Road in Wildwood is closed this morning due to power lines on the road.  AmerenUE crews are working to repair it and anticipate the road reopening this afternoon.
