ST. LOUIS - Traffic volumes and travel times on the interstate systems were consistent with those from over the past several months on the third evening of the west half reopening and east half closure of Interstate 64. Volumes are still about 10 percent below those during the western half closure.

There were minor incidents on the roadways, but the impact of those incidents was minor, with traffic slowing for 10-15 minutes.

"Today was a good day to evaluate traffic flow - we had good weather, and so we were able to get some really good data to help us continue to fine-tune our signal operations on alternate routes," said MoDOT District Engineer Ed Hassinger.

On arterials, Kingshighway was one of the busiest routes, and Manchester through Maplewood was still very congested. The highest travel times for people leaving Clayton right now is between 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., so businesses are still encouraged to let employees flex their hours to take advantage of reduced arterial travel times.

Traffic engineers are still seeing a good amount of capacity available on Page.

Drivers are reminded that to get to I-170 from Brentwood, they need to use Galleria Parkway. To get to I-170 from Hanley, drivers can use Eager.

Area law enforcement noted a few minor incidents this evening but all were cleared quickly. Drivers are reminded that if they are involved in a incident with no injuries, that it is the law to move the vehicles to a safe location on the shoulder.

As a reminder, McCausland will be closed Friday night, starting at 10 p.m. to demolish the bridge over McCausland. McCausland will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday morning.
