Non-MODOT projects on MoDOT roads

County/Municipality jobs

Frequently, counties and municipalities have work that impacts on MoDOT roadways. These projects can range from ones where the project sponsor has gotten funding from the Federal Government, or where MoDOT has entered into an agreement with the sponsor to share costs on a needed project. In these projects, the sponsor is required to design, bid and construct the project; however, MoDOT retains a good amount of oversight to ensure that work is completed to appropriate standards.

Here are a list of county and municipal projects which are impacting MoDOT roads in St. Charles County:

  • Route N in Dardenne Prairie - Part of the Bates Road Phase 2 improvements, work runs from Red Hawk Parkway to Route N. Crews are removing and replacing Bates Road, adding a center left turn lane, curbs and gutters and news sidewalks. There should be small impact on Route N. Contact the Dardenne Prairie City Hall at 636-561-1718 for more details.
  • Route 94 in Weldon Spring - Crews are reconstructing Independence Road from Route 94 to Patriotic Trail. Work includes removing and replacing the pavement, curbs, gutters and storm sewers. They are also building an additional lane near Route 94. This project includes a ped/bike trail. Currently, crews are relocating utilities. Contact Weldon Springs City Hall at 636-441-2110 for more details.

Permit jobs

Occasionally, counties have large projects that developers or other agencies are working on that impact MoDOT highways or property. Although MoDOT isn't directly working on those projects, it does issue permits to complete those projects and is very involved in overseeing the projects to ensure work is completed to the appropriate standards.

Although there are currently permit projects in the county, none of them have a major impact on traffic patterns in the region.

Drivers can expect some impacts from the following permit project, which should start in spring 2009.

  • I-70 at 5th Street – The city of St. Charles is working on interchange improvements at 5th Street and the westbound I-70 exit ramp. The city is designing and administering the project.  Construction should start in spring 2009.
