The following projects are currently planned for improvements to I-70 though St. Charles County:
- I-70 from 5th Street to Route 61. Upgrade the traffic signal systems along the outer roads and ramps. Construction should run from winter 2009 to fall 2009. Drivers can expect some lane closures on the outer roads and ramps during non-peak travel times.
- I-70 outer roads between Route 79 and Route K. Crews placed an asphalt overlay. Work is essentially complete.
- I-70 from west of Route K to Lake St. Louis Blvd. Crews removed, repaired and replaced asphaltt along this stretch of I-70. Except for some striping, work is complete.
- I-70 south outer road at Jungermann Road – Replace traffic signal. This project will replace the current wire signal spanning the road with a permanent mast arm system. Work on this project is complete.
- I-70 at Wentzville Parkway – Construct a right turn lane from Wentzville Parkway to westbound I-70 and dual left turn lanes to eastbound I-70. Construction should run from summer 2008 to fall 2008. Drivers can expect some lane closures during non-peak travel times during the day. There should be moderate impacts to traffic. Work on this project is complete.
- I-70 north outer road at Shady Springs – Install a traffic signal. Construction was completed in summer 2008.
- I-70 at 5th Street (Permit work) – The city of St. Charles is working on interchange improvements at 5th Street and the westbound I-70 exit ramp. The city is designing and administering the project. Construction should start in spring 2009.
