Resurfacing on Route 65 Begins Next Week
Project to Extend from Carrollton to Marshall
MACON - MoDOT has announced that APAC-Missouri, Inc. will begin a project next Wednesday, June 24 to resurface 30 of the 33 miles from north of Carrollton to the beginning divided lanes at Marshall (excluding a 3- mile concrete section at the Missouri River bridge in Waverly).
The project will begin at Carrollton and move south to Marshall. Crews will be working from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as many Saturdays. During these hours, work zones will be in place and traffic restricted to one-lane. Motorists are advised to use caution and patience during this process.
The entire 30 miles should be completed by mid-October; the work is weather dependent and could be delayed or rescheduled.
In addition to the resurfacing, this $7.6 million project provides safety upgrades including paved shoulders and rumble strips and a partnering agreement with the city of Marshall to add turn lanes at Vest Street.
Other projects taking place this summer to improve the Route 65 corridor are:
Resurfacing 17 miles of Route 65 in Saline County is nearing completion. The project will resurface 7 miles in the southbound lanes and 10 miles in the northbound lanes from south of Marshall to the Pettis County line.
Other improvements included in this contract are:
- Rehabilitation of the bridge over the Blackwater River (completed)
- Resurfacing the ramps at the Route 65/I-70 interchange (completed)
- A diamond grinding treatment on a three-mile concrete section of the southbound lanes to improve smoothness (in progress)
- A partnering agreement with the Saline County Commission to construct turn lanes at Route UU and Jewel Avenue (in progress)
