Final Road Closed by the Flood of 2011 Now Open

While it's been quite a while since the disastrous flooding of 2011 made headlines, the people of Northwest Missouri continue to rebuild lives disrupted by the historic flood. This month the final route closed due to the flood of 2011, Holt County Route 111, is now open to all traffic.

Major Projects

Milestones on Major Projects

Important events took place this month on three major projects across the state. With Missouri's

construction budget now at less than $700 million per year – half of what we've been accustomed to in

recent years; major projects like these will be fewer and farther between in the future. MoDOT is proud of

these improvements and the positive impact they will have on the state's transportation system.

Blanchette Bridge

St. Louis Blanchette Bridge Closure

The Interstate 70 Blanchette Missouri River Bridge westbound closure and detouring will begin the first weekend of November. The bridge will remain closed for less than one year. The eastbound I-70 bridge will be used to carry three lanes of traffic in each direction. Closes


60/65 Interchange Springfield US 60/65 Interchange Opens to Traffic
Construction of the US 60/65 interchange in southeast Springfield, which began in May 2009, was completed Oct. 19, 2012. The complex project included replacing two cloverleaf loop ramps with directional "flyover" ramps. Opens

Osage County Route 50 Expansion Begins

The next project to convert Route 50 to a four-lane highway began in Osage County when state and local officials broke ground on a 6.6 mile expansion project on the east-west corridor. Begins
