MoDOT recently announced plans to improve the remainder of the state's 5,600 miles of major highways over the next five years. These busy highways will receive wider stripes and rumble stripes, brighter signs, paved shoulders and smooth pavement that will bring 85 percent of Missouri's major highway system up to good condition by the end of 2011. MoDOT's Latest Tracker Report Shows Booming Construction Program
The latest transportation statistics show a record amount of construction projects in the past year, with costs coming in almost exactly as predicted by MoDOT budget estimators. In the past fiscal year, the department completed 413 transportation improvement projects worth more than $1.2 billion -- the busiest year ever in Missouri -- at a cost only 1.66 percent higher than what was budgeted.
