State Transportation Program Approved by Commission

Focus Remains on Maintaining Missouri's Existing Transportation System

Every year MoDOT releases its Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, which lists all transportation projects planned by state, metropolitan and regional planning agencies for a five-year period.

The 2014-2018 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program was approved by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission earlier this month. A dramatic reduction in transportation funding, however, makes today's STIP look very different. STIP

Shared-Use Paths

Did you know that Missouri features more than 606 miles of shared-use paths for bicyclists and pedestrians? Shared-use paths are used by pedestrians, cyclists and in some cases even horses, and usually at least 10 feet wide. The Katy Trail is an example of a shared-use path.

Have you checked out MoDOT's bicycle and pedestrian webpages? There's a ton of information, including state bicycle maps, links to other Web pages dedicated to cyclists and pedestrians, links to the major Missouri bicycle trails, traffic maps and much more. Take a look - Bike/Ped Program.
