Pavement Repair Work Scheduled on U.S. Route 36 in Marion and Shelby Counties

HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, pavement repairs on 32.5 miles of Westbound U.S. Route 36 are scheduled to begin as early as May 13 in Marion and Shelby counties from 0.5 mile west of U.S. Route 24 near Monroe City in Marion County to 0.3 mile west of the Macon County line near Clarence in Shelby County.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction in place at the location where crews are actively working. Signs will be utilized for traffic control including message boards to alert motorists of schedule changes. Workers will be present Monday through Friday during daylight hours. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.

The $5.1M contract, awarded earlier this year to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. of Columbia, Missouri, also includes pavement grooving on two disconnected sections of Eastbound U.S. Route 36 in Shelby County, located between 0.3 mile east of Shelbina to 0.8 mile east of Route PP near Lakenan. The public will be alerted through news releases and social media when scheduling details become available for this work. All work is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2024.
